BSNL merges areas

Chandigarh: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has merged Ropar and Zirakpur, Dera Bassi areas of Patiala with Chandigarh and the head office of the new business had been set up at Telephone Exchange Building, BSNL, Sector 34, here. This merger came into effect from November 1. The Chandigarh office will now provide services to the newly added areas of Ropar, Anandpur Sahib, Nangal, Kurali, Zirakpur and Dera Bassi in addition to the already existing areas of Chandigarh SSA, which includes Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali and Kharar. Now around 2.75 lakh mobile connections, 8,200 landline, 4,500 broadband and 3,300 FTTH connections working in these new areas will be added under the Chandigarh SSA. TNS
