Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, on Monday, held a review meeting at the Jamalpur sewer treatment plant (STP) in this regard and directed the authorities concerned to ensure that cow dung was not dumped in the Buddha Dariya.

Representatives of the Tajpur road dairy farmers association were also invited to the meeting. MP Seechewal stated that they did not want to take any action against anyone and were not against any sector. But dumping of cow dung in the Buddha Dariya could not be tolerated. National Green Tribunal (NGT) has also taken a strict note of the same, he said. He further stated that joint teams of the PPCB, police and MC were being formed and strict legal action would be taken against the dairy owners from August 1, if they were caught dumping cow dung in the water body.
