Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is likely to shift to Bungalow No. 1 on Raj Niwas Marg, an official source said on Sunday, marking a possible change in her official residence amid logistical and space concerns at her current address in Shalimar Bagh.
According to a senior official from the Public Works Department (PWD), the bungalow, which previously housed staff from the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat, will soon undergo renovation.
“The CM has decided to take the bungalow on Raj Niwas Marg, and work estimates are being prepared. However, the final allotment acceptance from the Chief Minister’s Office is awaited,” the official said.
The four-room-plus-hall government accommodation will be refurbished before the Chief Minister moves in.
Adjacent Bungalow No. 2, formerly occupied by former minister and MLA Gopal Rai, is set to be used as a “Camp Office” for CM Gupta, where she will meet the public and hold routine engagements.
“A large number of people visit her Shalimar Bagh residence daily, leading to space-related inconveniences for both visitors and local residents,” the official added. Most Cabinet ministers in the newly formed BJP government have already been allotted their official residences.
