Britannia Industries, a leading FMCG company, has launched a limited edition Marie Gold biscuit and sports scholarship, inspired by Para Olympian Avani Lekhara’s iconic shots.

Avani is the only Indian female athlete to win two gold medals in shooting at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. In honour of her remarkable achievement, Britannia Marie Gold has reimagined both its biscuit and packaging. For the first time in 18 years, the biscuit has been reshaped to match the exact dimensions of Avani’s target from her Paris 2024 victory.

The company, in partnership with the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS), has launched ‘HerSpark,’ a first-of-its-kind national sports scholarship program for women athletes. It is designed to identify and nurture promising women athletes in boxing, swimming, judo, athletics, and parasports to kickstart their sports career. The initiative offers aspiring young women athletes across India a fully funded three-year sports scholarship, covering professional training, coaching, lodging, nutrition, and educational opportunities. The program also offers world-class facilities and coaching from former Continental and Olympic athletes, such as Mamuka Kizilashvili (Judo) and Yoandris Betanzos Francis (athletics).
