M Nagaraj, CMD, Housing & Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), and Dr Arunvir Singh, CEO, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), have signed an MoU for providing financial assistance to the tune of over Rs 4,000 crore for various projects adjoining the upcoming International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. These would include land acquisition, development of industrial estates, electronic city, housing projects and associated infrastructure development on both sides of the Yamuna expressway over the next 3 years.

PFC gives Rs2.38 cr to IIT-Kanpur under CSR

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K), for training, research and entrepreneurship development in Smart Grid Technology. Under the agreement, the PFC will provide financial assistance of Rs 2.38 crore to the IIT-K under its CSR initiative. R Murahari, Executive Director, PFC, said the objective of the pact is to provide support to the IIT-K in developing infrastructure for research and development on smart grid technology.

SCOPE, German firm to train PSEs on climate change

The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) — an apex body of public sector enterprises (PSEs) — and GIZ Germany — a German public-benefit federal enterprise — have announced the launch of capacity gap assessment study for the PSEs in India to build their capacity on issues related to climate change, including climate policy, finance, and carbon pricing. The study shall be followed by a training module which will be developed based on the pre-assessment survey and review of national and international best practices to mitigate carbon emissions.

LIC’s new business performance records 25.17% growth in FY20

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC of India) has announced its audited figures for the year ended March 2020. New business performance for the year ending March 2020 has shown a growth of 25.17% in its first year premium by posting a highest ever figure of Rs 1,77,977.07 crore. Pension & Group Superannuation Business created history by crossing Rs 1 lakh crore and collecting Rs 1,26,696.21 crore as new business premium income as against Rs 90848.86 crore in the corresponding period previous year, showing a growth of 39.46%.

McDonald’s launches ‘Big Hug’ campaign

McDonald’s India has introduced double patty variants in its all-time favourites burgers which include two patties hugging each other.
