Direct tax collection soars to Rs 21.2 L cr

Aided by higher advance tax mop up, net direct tax kitty rose 13.13 per cent to over Rs 21.26 lakh crore this fiscal till March 16, the Centre said on Monday.

Wholesale inflation up by 2.38% in Feb

Pushed by expensive manufactured food items like vegetable oils and beverages, the wholesale price inflation (WPI) marginally increased to 2.38 per cent in February, the Centre said on Monday.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
