PEC University of Technology, formerly Punjab Engineering College, organised ‘Homecoming 2020: The Global Alumni Meet’ on February 15. It was attended by 800 alumni from all across the world from batches starting 1965. The batch of 1995 was honoured as they celebrated their silver jubilee. The day started with discussions on key issues It began with several ceremonies and felicitations followed by lunch, nostalgic moments of touring the campus and a music and dance session for dinner.

Atul Kumar Gupta elected president of ICAI

Atul Kumar Gupta and Nihar Niranjan Jambusaria have been elected president and vice-president, respectively, of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the year 2020-21. Gupta was vice-president of the body for the year 2019-2020.

Three students of Akal varsity clear CSIR NET examination

Three students of Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, have cleared Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) examination which was held recently. Simarjeet Kaur from the Department of Zoology scored all India rank 24, Jaspreet Kaur, also from the Department of Zoology, achieved all India rank 19 and Kulwinder Singh from the Department of Botany achieved all India rank 90 in the examination.

Kajaria Ceramics to open 10 showrooms in Kangra district

Sanitaryware maker Kajaria recently showcased its products at Yol Cantonment in Kangra district. Manohar Lal Sharma, regional manager, Kajaria, disclosed that the company would open 10 showrooms in the area to facilitate the customers.

Honda Cars India rolls out BS-VI-compliant Amaze

Honda Cars India has launched the BS-VI-compliant Amaze in both petrol and diesel engine options. The price starts at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol variant and Rs 7.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel trim. It is equipped with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that delivers 90 PS and 110 Nm of torque.

Powergrid, National Foundation for Communal Harmony in pact

Skoda showcases ‘Vision IN’ at Auto Expo in Greater Noida

Skoda showcased the 'Vision IN' at Auto Expo 2020. It previews the design of Skoda's India 2.0 SUV that's slated to hit roads in the first half of 2021. It will be the first product in India to be based on the Volkswagen Group's India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform. Gurpratap Boparai, MD, Skoda Auto Volkswagen (India), said the 4,256-mm-long concept study has a wheelbase of 2,671 mm and is powered by a 1.5 TSI petrol engine that delivers 110 kW (150 PS).

Share India gets licence for insurance business

Share India Securities Ltd has set bagged licence from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India for its insurance arm Share India Insurance Brokers, which would operate its insurance distribution business in the country with focus on Punjab, Hariyana, Himachal Pradesh and other northern states. The company aims at a premium collection of Rs 500 crore in five years through its network of over 500 outlets.
