PM to address FICCI AGM on Dec 12

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with a large number of Cabinet Ministers and Secretaries to the Government of India will address the FICCI’s annual general meeting at which a former journalist, Uday Shankar, will take over as chief of the apex chamber.

Among overseas industry leaders expected to address the three-day virtual AGM from December 11 are Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella; former Chairman, Alphabet, Eric Schmidt; CEO, Zero Gravity Corporation, Peter Diamandis; Abu Dhabi Investment Authority CEO Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and National Health Services (NHS) England Chair Lord David Prior.

In all, the virtual staging of the meeting could see over 10,000 delegates participating from across the globe.

Among the Indian industry leaders who will speak are Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran; Managing Director, JK Paper, Harsh Pati Singhania; Chairman, Cadila Healthcare, Pankaj Patel; Managing Director, HSIL Ltd, Sandip Somany; and OYO Hotels CEO Ritesh Agarwal.

Uday Shankar will succeed Joint MD of Apollo Hospitals Sangita Reddy as the FICCI President.

Starting with brief stints at The Times of India and Sunday Mail, Shankar crossed over from the journalist side during his time with Star TV. He is now the President of The Walt Disney Company for Asia Pacific and the Chairman of Star and Disney India.

Union Ministers likely to address the conference include Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, S Jaishankar, Ravi Shankar Prasad and RK Singh.

PM Modi will deliver the inaugural address on December 12.

Among secretary-rank officers who will address are Guruprasad Mohapatra, Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Tarun Bajaj, Rahul Chhabra, Amit Khare and Arvind Kumar Sharma.

Finance Commission Chairman NK Singh and NITI Ayog Chairman Amitabh Kant will also address the FICCI AGM.
