SASTRA deemed varsity bags IET accreditation for 12 courses



The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), UK, has accredited 12 programmes of SASTRA Deemed University. With this, SASTRA has become the first university in India to have the maximum number of undergraduate programmes accredited across its two campuses (Thanjavur and Kumbakonam), demonstrating that the programmes are aligned with internationally recognised standards. IET (UK) accreditation is an internationally recognised benchmark awarded to high quality programmes that provide an ideal preparation for aspiring professional engineers.

Bhakra Dam, BBMB Chairman conferred with CBIP awards

The Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) has awarded “Best Maintained Hydroelectric Power Houses (Functional Project – age more than 50 years)” award to BBMB for the outstanding maintenance of Bhakra Dam. DK Sharma, chairman, BBMB, has also been awarded for “recognition of his dedication, dynamism, leadership, long distinguished service and significant contributions made to the growth and development of the Indian power sector”. Both the awards were received by DK Sharma, chairman, BBMB, from Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Rattan Lal Kataria at an award ceremony held in New Delhi recently.

Sushma Group attracts investment from Amritsar

Real estate developer Sushma Group recently organised a press conference in Amritsar to showcase their projects in the tricity to the dwellers of the holy city. The group dwelled upon the current status of the real estate sector and sought investment from the city residents in their projects. Sushma Group Executive Director also announced its limited period special plan "Lease Rent Guarantee Offer”.

Markfed showcases products at ‘Gulf Food 2020’ in Dubai

Markfed Chairman Amarjit Singh Samra recently visited ‘Gulf Food 2020’ at World Trade Centre, Dubai. Markfed along with Metel Trading LLC, Dubai — its distributor/importer of GCC countries — put up a stall at the Gulf Food exhibition and showcased the whole range of products i.e. Ready-to-Eat canned foods, pickles, murabhas and mustard oil. Samra also launched “SOHNA” whole wheat atta on the occasion.

Kalgidhar Society presents ‘A walk with Nanak’

The Kalgidhar Society, Baru Sahib, in collaboration with Thukral and Tagra recently presented two interactive and insightful games ‘A walk with Nanak’ and ‘Nanak’s Vision’ for individuals of all age groups. The two games, based on Baba Nanak’s spiritual journeys, were first played at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, New Delhi, where visitors played the games in teams and as individuals. The game play (installation) begins with 24 milestones that are synonymous with the places/locations such as Bidar, Sialkot, Somnath that Baba Nanak had visited and blessed the people with his teachings.

PFC receives ‘Governance Now PSU Award’ for resilient growth

Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFC) has been conferred the “Governance Now PSU Award” in the category of “Resilient Growth”. PK Singh, Director (Commercial), and RS Dhillon, Director (Projects), PFC, received the award from Union Minister of State for HI&PE Arjun Ram Meghwal recently.
