NHPC awards 1,600 MW photovoltaic projects
NHPC has given Letter of Awards (LOA) to solar power developers for interstate transmission system (ISTS) grid-connected photovoltaic projects aggregating to 1,600 MW installed capacity. As part of the LOA, NHPC shall purchase the power generated from the proposed ISTS-Connected Solar PV Power Project at tariffs of Rs 2.55 and 2.56 per unit. In another development, NHPC has awarded the work for “Execution of 1,500 metre Head Race Tunnel works for Parbati-II HE Project to M/s Gammon Engineer and Contactors Pvt. Ltd. for Rs 211.63 crore.
Chander Shekhar Sharma takes over as General Manager, SBI
Chander Shekhar Sharma has joined as General Manager, FI&MM, State Bank of India, Chandigarh Circle. Sharma (52) started his career with SBI as a probationary officer in 1994. In his illustrious career of 26 years, he has held important assignments in various fields like retail banking, credit management and international banking. He will head the FI&MM vertical of the bank in the financial inclusion and micro market sector for Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

NFL, Nangal Unit, celebrated World Environment Day on June 5. To keep the environment clean, NFL has planted 3 lakh trees inside and outside the factory. A webinar “Biodiversity” was also arranged by Pushpa Gujral Science City.

Galgotias University has received the accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The courses which have been accorded the accreditation are computer science, electronics and communication and mechanical engineering. The accreditation was accorded on the basis of academic excellence, placement and advance research facilities.

GNA University recently organised an international e-seminar on the theme “Invent the Future: The New Normal for Hospitality & Tourism” in collaboration with Indian Hospitality Congress (IHTC). The global pandemic Covid-19 has brought the entire world to halt. It has impacted all sectors of the economy while hospitality and tourism industry is the hardest hit. The objective of the e-seminar was to have deliberations on the future travel business. It was attended by over 300 academicians, research scholars and industry professions from pan India.
Sonalika Tractors records 18.6% growth in May
Sonalika Tractors has registered an overall growth of 18.6% both in domestic sales and exports by selling 9,177 tractors in May as compared to 7,737 units in May last year. The company has strengthened its exports position from India by registering 25% growth with exports of 1,537 tractors in May. “We have seen a healthy growth of 26% in our tractor deliveries in May,” said Raman Mittal, ED, Sonalika Group.
