With a vision to encourage youth’s participation in the development and progress of Punjab, Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Punjab, is organising a two-day “Punjab State Youth Festival-2019” at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, from December 23 to 24. This was announced by Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi during a press conference at Chandigarh. Sodhi also launched the website where the youth can register themselves for the festival.

Sri Chaitanya students shine in RMO 2019

Sri Chaitanya has achieved another milestone by giving 15 out of 31 selections from the same centre in the northwest region along with one of the students getting the highest marks in RMO 2019. Six students from the junior wing and nine from Class 11 have made it to the next stage. Every second student in the region who has qualified for Indian National Mathematical Olympiad 2020 is the student of Sri Chaitanya Chandigarh.

ICICI Bank inaugurates branch at Bathinda

ICICI Bank has inaugurated a new branch in Bathinda at New Cloth Market. The new branch is part of the six new branches that the Bank has opened in the state this fiscal. JK Tyre launches V-Compact R3 tyre

JK Tyre & Industries Ltd has launched the new V-Compact R3 tyre at EXCON 2019. The 23.1-26 V-Compact R3 is designed especially for soil compactor application. Company’s technical director VK Misra said, “The new tyre provides high stability and resistance against wear and tear.” The tyre has heavy-duty nylon carcass construction. The tyre’s high denier fabric gives exceptional casing strength and reliability during the operation.

New Jaguar in India from Rs44.98 lakh

Jaguar Land Rover India has announced the launch of the New Jaguar XE. Available in the S&SE derivative, the New Jaguar XE is offered with 184 kW ingenium turbocharged petrol powertrain and 132 kW Ingenium Turbocharged Diesel powertrain options. Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said: “We are confident that our Jaguar fans and discerning customers will be delighted with our latest offering.”

Dr Trust launches ECG Pen for cardiovascular activity

Dr Trust, a home health-tech space brand, on Friday said it has launched ECG Pen which will help patients monitor their cardiovascular activities from home and share it with physicians, thus facilitating timely medical intervention in urgent situations. The device enables detection of common aberrations in cardiovascular rhythm like atrial fibrillation and even third-degree heart blocks, Saurabh Goyal, Executive Director of Nureca Pvt Ltd, which owns the Dr Trust brand, said.

Weekly Export train from Ludhiana

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) along with CONCOR (Container Corporation) announced the commencement of a weekly export train from ICD Ludhiana to JN Port, Navi Mumbai. JNPT Chairman Sanjay Sethi said this service will be on every Saturday to ensure faster evacuation of export containers destined for JNPT. The Ludhiana ICD caters to a vast interior market which includes HP, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

Bank of India holds ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ camp

Bank of India, Chandigarh Zone, has successfully conducted a new initiative ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign. During the campaign period, branches of Bank of India, spread over three states, including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh directly contacted residents by visiting their homes and successfully fulfilled their banking requirements be it SME loans or retail or agriculture loans. During the period of campaign, Bank of India sanctioned loans of Rs.203 crore.

Cancer Research Centre at Shoolini University

Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences has established a state-of-the-art Cancer Research Centre on its campus near Solan. The facility, which houses five different research groups actively engaged in the research on various aspects of cancer biology like, herbal cancer therapy, cancer immunotherapy, drug delivery and chemical biology group, was inaugurated Mr Raj Khosla, a philanthropist, who has made an endowment of Rs 1 crore for setting up the Centre.

Work starts at Motia Guildford Square

Motia Group, a leading real estate developer, has begun work on it its recently launched commercial project Motia Guildford square located in Zirakpur with bhoomi pujan. Spread across an area of 3.75 acres, the prodigious project will offer spaces of varied sizes for showrooms, office spaces and retail along with rooftop dining. It will be ready within two years.
