Jalandhar, July 31
The Regional Transport Office is going to launch a special campaign from August 5 to facilitate the issuance of learning licences for e-rickshaw and autorickshaw drivers in the city.
Regional Transport Officer Amanpreet Singh said this campaign aims to assist e-rickshaw and autorickshaw drivers in obtaining their learning licences. Drivers who currently do not possess a driving licence can apply for a learning license under this initiative.
ARTO Vishal Goel has been appointed as the nodal officer, who said that a special counter would be set up at the automated driving test track to help applicants, with dedicated staff assigned to avoid any inconvenience.
The RTO stated that the learning licence tests for e-rickshaw and autorickshaw drivers would be conducted on a priority basis. He further explained that the learning licence is valid for 180 days and drivers could apply for a driving licence 30 days after obtaining their learning licence.
Prior to this, the RTO held meetings with various associations to ensure that the benefits of this initiative reach the grassroots. The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that every e-rickshaw and autorickshaw driver on the city roads holds a valid licence, he said.
