A rashly driven Canter killed a motorcyclist on GT Road near Tajpur cut on Saturday. After the accident, the driver fled the spot while abandoning the vehicle on the road. The police division No. 6 registered a case against the unidentified driver under various sections of the BNS and launched a probe to identify him.

Complainant and the deceased’s father said that Hitesh Kumar, a resident of Harbanspura, said that on May 24, his son Rohin Kumar (21) was going from Tajpur Chowk to Kashmir Nagar on his motorcycle for some personal work. When his son reached the GT Road near the Tajpur cut, a rashly driven Canter coming from Samrala Chowk side at high speed hit his son’s motorcycle. After the accident the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

The victim’s father added that his son suffered serious injuries in the accident and was shifted to the Civil Hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to the injuries. Doctors had claimed that Rohin had suffered serious head injuries and fractures due to which he could not survive.

Meanwhile, investigating officer ASI Kashmir Singh said that after registering a case, further investigation had been launched.
