Bhiwani varsity hosts workshop on building placement ecosystems

Approximately 100 members, including 12 academic leaders, 19 training and placement officers (TPOs) from various universities, 11 TPOs from colleges all over the state along with 60 participants from the CBLU participated in the workshop

Chaudhary Bansi Lal University (CBLU), Bhiwani, in collaboration with the Haryana State Higher Education Council (HSHEC) and MEDHA, Lucknow, organised a one-day workshop on “Building stronger placement ecosystems in higher education institutions: Aligning with NEP 2020 vision.”

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between HSHEC and MEDHA with an objective of sharing learnings from MEDHA’s work. Approximately 100 members, including 12 academic leaders, 19 training and placement officers (TPOs) from various universities, 11 TPOs from colleges all over the state along with 60 participants from the CBLU, Bhiwani, participated in the workshop.

In her address in the workshop, the CBLU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Deepti Dharmani, highlighted the need to align placement strategies with evolving industrial demands and enhance students’ practical skills and aptitude. Prof SK Gakhar, vice-chairperson, HSHEC, emphasised the pivotal role of TPOs in bridging the skill gap among graduates. She said NEP- 2020 sought to develop “well-formed” minds through skill-based education, industry collaboration, and innovation-driven learning.

Saurabh Rai, vice-president, system adoption, MEDHA, shared insights from Medha’s initiatives across the country and emphasised the importance of collaboration among institutions, students, faculty and industry to strengthen the placement ecosystem. Kalpana Taing, guest of honour from HDFC, stressed the need for emotional and professional readiness among the youth.

Prof KC Sharma, Chairperson, HSHEC, in his keynote address called for proactive, skill-oriented and multidisciplinary approaches in higher education, urging institutions to go beyond job facilitation and focus on holistic employability.

The technical sessions were chaired by Prof Pawan Sharma, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Central University of Haryana. The co-chairs were Prof Sanjeev Kumar and Prof Suresh Malik from the CBLU, Bhiwani.

Dr Shabda Bedi and Anant Gangola from MEDHA shared their insights on the role of a modern TPO in building institutional ecosystems for career enhancement and drafting the key chapters and structure of the state-level TPO handbook. Registrar, CBLU, Bhiwani Dr Bhavna Sharma, deans and directors and faculty members of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University were present on the occasion. The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to fostering stronger academia-industry linkages in line with the vision of NEP 2020.
