'0001' sold for Rs 36 lakh in auction of vehicle registration numbers in Chandigarh

The much sought-after '0001' special vehicle registration number has received the highest ever bid of Rs 36.43 lakh in Chandigarh. The Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA), Chandigarh, conducted the e-auction of new series “CH01-DA” from vehicle numbers 0001 to 9999 along with some leftover fancy/special registration numbers of previous series from August 19 to 22.

With the auction of a total of 577 registration numbers, the RLA fetched the highest-ever revenue of Rs 4.08 crore.

Earlier, the RLA received the second highest bid of Rs 31 lakh in May this year.

Meanwhile, the number CH01DA0003 received the second highest bid of ₹17,84,000 in this auction, followed by CH01DA0009 which drew ₹16,82,000.

The number CH01DA0005 was sold for ₹16,51,000, CH01DA0007 fetched ₹16,50,000, CH01DA0002 ₹13,80,000, and CH01DA9999 was let go for ₹10,25,000.

Pradhuman Singh, Director, Transport Department, Chandigarh, said that all seven numbers received the highest ever bids so far and also earned a record profit of Rs 4.08 crore received in any auction so far.
