Mohali: 1.1L people avail of cashless treatment under govt scheme

As many as 1,15,492 people in the district have so far benefited from cashless treatment worth Rs 72.43 crore under the Ayushman Bharat Mukha Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana.

Deputy Medical Commissioner (DMC) Dr Parvinder Pal Kaur, District Nodal Officer, Ayushman Bharat Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana, said cashless treatment worth Rs 21,14 crore has been authorised to 23,117 patients at government hospitals. Of this, claims of Rs 17.99 crore have also been settled.

Similarly, 92,375 patients were given authorisation for cashless treatment worth Rs 58.54 crore from empanelled private hospitals. Of this, claims of Rs 51.28 crore have also been settled, so far.

The work of generating e-cards of beneficiaries enrolled under the scheme was being done continuosly in the district. Under the scheme, e-cards are issued to six types of beneficiary families, covering under SECC data, ration card holders, construction workers, small traders, small farmers and journalists.

According to the DMC, 1,21, 286 families have been found eligible, of which e-cards have been issued to 99,260 by registering a total of 2,50,013 members.

Ayushman cards are being made in common service centres at a nominal fee of Rs 30, working at various places, while e-cards for patients are made att he hospitals. Camps are also organised at different places to make cards.

Notably, the needy families enrolled/registered under the scheme are given the benefit of free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh in government and empanelled private hospitals. The treatment provided under the scheme covers many serious ailments like heart related disease, knee replacement, eye surgery, maternity, cancer etc.

The DMC appealed to the people that to coordinate with the municipal councillor, sarpanch or ASHA workers in their area to get the card.

People can check their eligibility on the official website www.shapunjab.in. A helpline number, 104, can also be used to get more information while the Arogya Mitra can be contacted in listed hospitals. Beneficiaries must carry requisite documents like Aadhaar card, ration card, PAN, etc according to their eligibility.
