The officers concerned, including areas DSPs and SHOs, will patrol their areas to keep a close watch. Special vigil will be kept at prominent areas, including Sector 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 17, 22, 26, 35 and 36, and near Elante Mall. In view of the coronavirus, patrolling teams will also ensure that social distancing is maintained and the crowd is dispersed from places where people usually gather for celebrations.

The SSP said a special woman squad led, by a woman inspector, would also be on duty to deal with any situation pertaining to women. Meanwhile, revellers, who enjoy driving across the gehri route from Sector 7 to 11 will miss it this time as the police are going to restrict their movement. The SSP said there would be restrictions on the gehri route between Sector 7 and 11 to deter hooligans. “The gehri route will be closed to maintain law and order. Only sector residents will be allowed movement in the area”, he added. In addition to this, the traffic police will also be deployed in the city to keep a check on traffic violations.
