Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Shivani, who inspected schools in Sectors 15 and 16, said worm infestation often caused malnutrition, anaemia, persistent fatigue and hampered both physical and mental development in children. She stressed the importance of preventive measures such as maintaining hygiene, avoiding open defecation, washing hands thoroughly with soap before meals and after using the toilet. Dr Shivani added that those who missed the medicine today would be given it during a mop-up round on September 2.
