During the checking, 10 school buses were found lacking first-aid kits, had expired fitness certificates or lapsed insurance. Three of these buses were subsequently impounded.

“It is mandatory for all school buses to adhere strictly to the prescribed safety standards. Any compromise on children’s safety will not be tolerated. School operators have been instructed to ensure that their buses operate strictly in accordance with the Safe Vehicle Policy,” Sharma added.

He further added that inspections of school buses would continue across Panchkula under the on-going campaign.
