Chandigarh news: 13 more allottees of CHB small flats get eviction notices
The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has issued eviction notices to 13 more allottees of small flats who have failed to deposit the prescribed licence fee.
Earlier, such notices were issued to 60 allottees and they had been given one-month time to vacate the flats.
According to the notice, the occupants have unauthorisedly occupied the dwelling units, as the allotment of the units was cancelled over non-payment of licence fee and the dues had risen to Rs 1 lakh or more in each case. The CHB ordered them to vacate the premises within one month from the date of service of notice, failing which they will be evicted forcibly.
The CHB has been issuing such notices since May 19 over the non-payment of fee despite repeated reminders. So far, notices have been issued to 16 allottees in Sector 38-West, 13 in Sector 56, 11 in Sector 49, 15 in Ram Darbar, 17 in Dhanas and one in Maloya.
The CHB had constructed about 20,000 flats across the city under the Small Flats Scheme-2006. These flats were allotted to poor families who lived in slum colonies. The terms of allotment include the allottees have to deposit the monthly rent of Rs 800 with the board. Most allottees have failed to pay rent for the past several years. Their dues have accumulated up to Rs 2 lakh or more.
