14 challaned for drunken driving in Panchkula
Aided by extensive security arrangements, the New Year celebrations in Panchkula concluded peacefully. The police had set up eight checkpoints to monitor drunken driving, during which 14 challans were issued and one vehicle was impounded. Around 300 motorists were checked at these nakas.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himadri Kaushik stated that robust security measures were implemented, with around 300 police personnel deployed and advanced security equipment put in place. Women police officers were stationed at key locations to ensure the safety of women.
The police maintained a strict check on individuals causing disturbance on roads under the influence of alcohol. Sensitive areas were identified in advance and special arrangements were made to address potential issues.
Additionally, separate patrolling teams were constituted for each police station jurisdiction to enhance safety and maintain order throughout the city.
