The Chandigarh regional office of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has settled 14,158 cases of the employees while declaring them eligible for pension on higher wages in the light of a recent Supreme Court judgment.

The EPFO local office had received applications from 24,250 employees working in different establishments covered under the Chandigarh regional office, who were members of the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS).

An official said demand letters to such employees, after calculating the lump sum arrear contributions along with the interest component, were sent by March 31. He said a lot of such members have deposited the amounts against the demand letters. “The regional office is now finalising pension payment orders (PPOs). Arrear payments to all such pensioners will be made by June 30,” he informed.

Since a lot of such members are visiting the regional office to make enquiries, the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Chandigarh, Kishan Pratap Singh, has urged the EPS members concerned to wait until the first week of July.
