On the third day of the ongoing nomination process for the panchayat samiti elections, 22 candidates filed their nomination papers in the district —16 for Kharar and six for Majri block. No nominations were received in Dera Bassi for the third day in a row.

District Election Officer–cum–Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said the nomination process was scheduled from December 1 to December 4. She added Kharar received 16 nominations today, including one each from Cholta Khurd and Chadiala zones; two each from Bari Karoran, Mullanpur Garibdas, Maachhipur, and Majatri zones; and three each from Sotal and Ghoga zones.

In Majri panchayat samiti, two candidates from the Manakpur Sharif zone and four candidates from the Jhandey Majra zone submitted their nomination papers. She added that December 4 would be the final day for filing nominations.
