An eight-month-old baby girl and an 80-year-old woman are among 16 persons who tested positive for Covid-19 in the city today. The UT Covid tally today rose to 523 with 113 active cases.

Among those found infected are two men from Sector 55, aged 65 and 31, and three women, aged 30, 40 and 59, along with a 14-year-old boy from Sector 38. An 80-year-old woman from Sector 51 has also been found positive for Covid. A 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman from Sector 45 are among the new cases. An 11-year-old girl from Sector 40 too tested positive for the virus.

Besides, three persons, including an eight-month-old girl, from Mani Majra were found infected.

A 32-year-old man from Sector 52 too contracted the virus.

Two men from Sector 27 and 19 were also found infected. Meanwhile, the family members and workplace contacts of the new patients have been quarantined.

4 nursing officers quarantined

Four nursing officers of the PGI were quarantined today after a patient was found positive for Covid.

According to the PGI, a patient, Pritpal (70) from Shekhpur, Ropar, was admitted to the ATC OPD on July 7 for some neurosurgical ailment. The patient was later shifted to the Emergency and tested positive for Covid today. He has been shifted to the NHE ICU.
