The UT police have apprehended a 17-year-old boy in possession of a country-made pistol and five live cartridges.
According to the police, during patrolling on Thursday, ASI Vivek Kumar intercepted a boy near 3 BRD, close to Guga Madi Mandir, Ram Darbar. He was carrying a pistol and ammunition but failed to produce a valid licence. On questioning, he disclosed his age and was found to have a prior criminal record.
The police said the juvenile had earlier been booked in January in a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. Following medical examination, he was sent to the Juvenile Home in Sector 25. Further investigation was underway, the police said.
Man arrested with stolen motorcycle
A 28-year-old man has been arrested with a stolen motorcycle. The accused was identified as Sharad, a mechanic from Preet Vihar, Baltana, Zirakpur.
In a complaint to the police, Parves Dhiman of Raipur Rani, Panchkula, had stated that his motorcycle (HR03S0487) was stolen from near Shakar AC Motor Market, Manimajra. A case was registered on July 27.
Following investigation, Sharad was arrested and the stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession.
The police said the accused had been booked for vehicle theft earlier too.
