2 acquitted in impersonation in exam case

A local court has acquitted two Haryana residents in a five-year-old cheating case.
Those who have walked free are Ankit of Sonepat district and Paramjit of Hansi in Hisar district.
As per the prosecution, a case was registered against them in the year 2019 for impersonation for the purpose of passing an examination conducted by the HSSC, Panchkula. The prosecution said on December 8, 2019, Paramjit impersonated Ankit and appeared in the examination.
On the complaint of an official of the examination centre, a case under Sections 419, 420, 511, 120-8 and 177 of the IPC was registered at the Industrial Area police station. After conducting an investigation into it, the police filed a chargesheet against the accused. Finding prima facie case, the court framed the charges against the accused to which they pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.
The public prosecutor argued that the prosecution proved the case beyond a shadow of doubt.
On the other hand, Dikshit Arora, counsel for Ankit, argued that the complainant had not supported the case of the prosecution. He said the prosecution also failed to show any call details or other material which could link the two accused.
After hearing the arguments, the court acquitted the accused of the charges framed against them.
