Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Veda Restaurant and Bar in Sector 5 and arrested two persons for serving hookah. The accused were identified as Nikku Pandey, a Chandigarh resident; and manager Vaibhav Sharma, from Kharar, Mohali. The police seized four hookahs, four chillums and six flavored tobacco packs. The accused failed to show any licence or permit for keeping these items. A case has been registered.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
