Chandigarh, September 15

Four persons, including two garbage collectors, have been arrested for vehicle thefts and nine two-wheelers have been recovered from them.

A team of the Sector 39 police station nabbed Ashok Kumar (26), a resident of Maloya, Ajay Kumar (25), a resident of Dadu Majra, Sachin (20) of Khudda Jassu and Jatinder (25), a resident of EWS Colony, Dhanas.

The police said on September 12, an Activa, owned by Abhishek, was stolen from the Sector 40 booth market.

A case was registered at the Sector 39 police station. During investigation, Ashok and Ajay, both garbage collectors, were arrested while riding the stolen Activa near the Sector 37/38 small chowk.

The police said their arrest led to the recovery of five more two-wheelers stolen from different parts of the city. The police said another suspect, Sachin, a driver, was arrested from near the Sector 40 Community Centre while riding a bike stolen from Sector 38.

The fourth suspect, Jatinder, was arrested from near the Sector 38 (West) light point while riding a motorcycle, which was stolen from Buterla village. The police said Ashok and Ajay had also stolen the battery of a car, while it was parked in Sector 37, that was also recovered on the disclosure made by the duo. — TNS
