The local police have arrested two persons on the charge of stealing a mobile phone.
Police officials said the two suspects were arrested by the Sector-5 Police Station in-charge, Inspector Rupesh Chaudhary, and his team. They have been identified as Deepak and Somina, alias Mohan, both residents of Rajiv Colony, Sector 17, here.
The officials said the complainant in the case, Dilshad, a resident of Raipur Khurd, Chandigarh, who operates an e-rickshaw, reported that he had gone to a house in Sector 9 in Panchkula on his e-rickshaw carrying electrical goods from Sector 18 in Chandigarh. He kept his mobile phone in his auto and went inside the house to shift the goods. When he returned to the vehicle, he found the mobile phone missing.
He, with the help of the house owner, checked the CCTV cameras installed on the premises and found that two persons had taken advantage of the opportunity and stolen the mobile phone from the e-rickshaw.
The police had registered a case and started an investigation into the matter.
The police arrested the two following a tip-off. The two suspects were produced before a local court and the Judge sent them on two-day police remand. The police have also recovered the stolen mobile phone from their possession.
