Mohali, August 12

The Zirakpur police arrested two persons and recovered 10.35-kg cannabis worth Rs3.10 crore from their possession late last night.

The suspects have been identified as Suraj Kumar (20), a native of Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. He is presently living in a rented accommodation at Rampur Kalan village in Zirakpur. Another accused has been identified as Jawaharlal (31), a native of Rahimpur Ridoli police station, Samastipur, Bihar.

SP (Rural) Ravjot Kaur Grewal today said during a routine checking at a naka, the Zirakpur police, led by Sub-Inspector Ajit Singh Singh, stopped a tempo bearing registration number PB10DS8505. During checking, the police recovered 10.35-kg cannabis worth Rs3,10,50,000 from their possession.

Ravjot said a case under Sections 20, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at the Zirakpur police station. She said during preliminary investigation, it was revealed that four more persons involved in this drug trade had been identified. The main accused involved in supplying the drugs had been arrested.
