The police have arrested two accused and recovered four snatched mobile phones and four stolen motorcycles from them. Those arrested have been identified as Fazilika native Gurbhej Singh and Seerat Kumar, 24, a resident of Shahabad.
On the basis of the statement of Seema Khanna, a resident of SBP Homes Extension 03, Sector 126, Kharar, a case under Sections 304, 303(2), 317(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at the Kharar police station, against two unknown persons. Seema told the police that when she returned from work and was parking her Scooty in the parking lot of the society, her purse containing cash and documents was snatched by two bike-borne persons.
The CIA staff arrested the accused near Bhagat Ghat in Kharar. Gurbhej, alias Guri, alias Vipan, was currently residing in Balongi. He was booked in a case of car theft at the Sarabha Nagar police station, Ludhiana, in 2024. Seerat Kumar was also currently residing Balongi. Seerat snatched a cellphone from an elderly man nearby Sunny Enclave park. He had also stolen a motorcycle from the parking lot of the flats in Shivalik Vihar, Zirakpur.
Both accused stole bikes parked near Nagpal Jewellers at Kumbra village, from backside of Bestech Mall, near Gurdwara Sahib Gate No. 2 and from MS Enclave in Dhakoli. The accused also snatched a purse from a woman near CP Mall.
