2 members of target killing module held

Mohali, August 2
Police arrested two members of a target killing module and recovered one pistol and 90 live rounds from them. On July 28, CIA staff were present near Bansawali Chungi, Kharar, where cops nabbed Mohit Kumar of Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala, and Jalandhar resident Maninder Singh. The duo was staying in a rented accommodation at LIC Colony, Mundi Kharar where his accomplices used to visit them. Cops said Mohit and his associates are already booked in several cases of rioting etc and had an unlicensed weapon. A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the City Kharar police station.
Addressing a press conference, Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg and SP (Investigation) Jyoti Yadav said, “Mohit had procured 90 rounds and a 9mm pistol from Maninder Singh which he had hidden at a secluded place at Landran-Sirhind road. Maninder was arrested on August 1. Maninder disclosed that he got the ammunition from Jalandhar native Harjit Pandaal who is already booked under Arms Act and extortion cases. He is presently in England. Harjit is also an associate of Gopi who is wanted in Ratandeep Singh murder case.”
“The gang was planning a targetted killing on the directions of Harjit in Jalandhar and Kapurthala area,” said Harsimrat Singh, DSP (Investigation).
