The two suspects arrested by the Panchkula police for robbing a provision store at gunpoint in Fatehpur village, Sector 20, had also robbed the owner of a Western Union branch in the Sector 27 market, Chandigarh, in July last year.
The suspects – Rakesh Kumar and Indrajeet – had allegedly robbed Rs3 lakh at gunpoint from Sanjiv Kalia. Kalia had returned to his office after withdrawing Rs2.80 lakh from a bank in the same sector. The robbers entered Kalia’s office and looted the cash after threatening him. The robbers casually walked out of the office and fled from the spot.
A UT police official said the suspects would be brought on production warrant soon by the Chandigarh Police.
