Chandigarh, January 4

Two Punjab Engineering College (PEC) faculty members, Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Professor, Applied Science Department; and Dr Kamal Kumar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering, have figured on a list that represents the top 2 per cent most cited scientists in the world.

The analysis, which was conducted using research publications up to 2020-end, was published in PLOS Biology, a peer-reviewed scientific journal. The data includes all scientists who are among the top 1,00,000 scientists across all fields, according to the composite citation index.

Stanford University has recently released a list that represents the top 2 per cent of the most-cited scientists in various disciplines. Dr Sanjeev Kumar is actively engaged in the research field of nanowires, ferroelectrics and advanced functional materials. His name has been included in a list of career-long data and single year impact (2020). He has also been awarded INDIA Top Cited Paper Award 2020 by IOP Publishing, UK.

Dr Kamal Kumar is doing his research in the area of advanced manufacturing processes, material processing and biodegradable orthopaedic implants. His name is included in a list of single year impact (2020).

The Director of PEC, Prof Baldev Setia, congratulated both faculty members.
