Two natives of Punjab have been arrested by the UT police for robbing a cab driver of his vehicle in Sector 38 (West) in the city.

In a complaint lodged with the police, Rohit Kumar (19), a resident of Dera Bassi, had stated that he was at the ISBT, Sector 43, when two persons approached him. They asked the cab driver to drop them at the Labour Bureau Office in Sector 38 (West).

The police said on reaching the destination in Sector 38 (West), the two passengers thrashed the cab driver and took away his car.

A case was registered at the Maloya police station.

During the investigation, the police arrested the accused, identified as Gurpreet Singh (30) and Shamsher Singh (28), both natives of Punjab, and recovered the stolen car from them.

The police said both accused earlier worked as cab drivers but were jobless for the past some time.
