2 snatchers held, victim succumbs to injuries

Ambala, August 2
The CIA-1 unit of the Ambala police has arrested two accused in connection with a snatching incident, in which a woman had lost her life.
The accused have been identified as Gaurav and Sarabjit, both residents of Mohali. The deceased has been identified as Kamlesh, a resident of Amipur village in Ambala.
Ambala SP Surinder Singh Bhoria said on July 25, the accused had snatched an earring from a woman. The victim, who was riding a two-wheeler, fell down. She later succumbed to injuries. A case was registered at the Panjokhra police station on July 26.
On July 30, Gaurav and Sarbjit were arrested and produced before a court. The Judge sent them to three-day police remand. The earrings and the two-wheeler used to the crime have been recovered.
The police said there were 11 cases, including that of dacoity, attempt to murder, theft, Arms Act, assault and NDPS Act, registered against Sarabjit in Mohali, Panchkula and Ambala. He was sentenced to 13-year imprisonment in 2014 in a ransom and attempt-to-murder case. He came out on bail in December 2022. Gaurav was Sarabjit’s accomplice in several crimes.
