2 thieves nabbed in Panchkula; 7 mobile phones, scooter recovered

A team of the Crime Branch Sector 26, Panchkula, led by Sub-Inspector Mandeep, claimed to have apprehended two men who had stolen cash and mobile phones from a house in Sector 19.

On February 2, Ankur Mishra, filed a complaint with the police that he lived with his family in Sector 19, Panchkula. His maternal grandfather had gone out for a walk in the morning, and Ankur himself was sleeping at home. During this time, a thief, taking advantage of the situation, stole four mobile phones and cash. Based on the victim's complaint, a case was registered and the Crime Branch team promptly took action and began searching for the accused.

The team reviewed CCTV footage and, acting on a tip-off, apprehended the two accused. Ramesh Rai, who was arrested from Ramgarh, was presented in a local court today, where he was sent in two-day police remand. Another accused, Sonu Kumar, alias Sunny, was apprehended from Laldu, Punjab. Both accused are residents of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. Sonu will be presented in the court tomorrow. During the search, the police recovered seven mobile phones, a Samsung watch, and a stolen scooter from the accused.

The investigation revealed that both the accused had set up a base in Laldu, where they used to store stolen goods. The two accused have four theft cases registered against them at various police stations in Panchkula since 2022. Moreover, the court had issued non-bailable warrants against them.
