21 held from fake call centres in Zirakpur

The police have arrested 21 persons, including women, involved in running fake call centres from different locations simultaneously in Zirakpur.
Cops said the suspects were cheating people by using fake URLs, identities and swindling money through online accounts and cards. Several teams of police raided different locations at VIP Road, Trishla City, Friends Enclave, and Sunshine Enclave localities of the town since 5 am Monday morning.
Sikar, Rajasthan, residents Mohammed Nadeem Qureshi, Tauseef Ahmed; Dehradun resident Akash Bisht; South Sudan national Umar Jeffrey have been identified as main suspects.
Zirakpur SHO Jaskanwal Singh said, “The suspects were using ‘X Lite’ software to use spoof calls on the pretext of giving e-commerce related services.
A case under Sections 319(2), 318(2), 336(2), 338,336(3), 340(2), 308(2), 61(2), 66 C and 66 D of the BNS has been registered at the Zirakpur police station. The suspects were produced in the court today and sent to three day police remand.
