22 vehicles impounded for violating traffic norms

The Panchkula traffic police have impounded 22 vehicles and issued 51 challans for various offences, including overloading, driving without number plates and flouting traffic norms, over the past two days at three key location in the city.

In a bid to ensure road safety and maintain smooth traffic flow, the traffic police have launched a special enforcement drive under the supervision of City Traffic SHO Varinder Kumar.

The campaign specifically targets overloaded and unregistered vehicles, which not only violate traffic laws but also pose a serious threat to public safety. Overloaded vehicles compromise control and braking efficiency, thereby increasing the risk of road accidents. Similarly, vehicles operating without number plates are often difficult to trace after in case of their involvement in criminal activities or hit-and-run incidents.

Traffic ACP Surender Singh stated that the purpose of such drives was not merely to penalise offenders, but to promote responsible driving and awareness regarding road safety regulations.

He urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules for their own safety and that of others.
