As many as 223 golfers went under the hammer at the Chandigarh Golf Club’s auction for the 21 participating Chandigarh Golf League (CGL) teams.

The auction, which was attended by full strength of owners and captains, saw golfers get auctioned under three distinct categories of ladies, age group over 75 and handicap bracket 0-18. It witnessed competitive bidding as all team tried to add the best players to their final squad of 18.

Among the notable auction, Seven Iron sealed the deal with Phulbag Singh Sodhi for 3,00,000 points, while Signature Chiefs pocketed Udayveer Singh for 2,50,000 points.

Captains 18 and Tee Birds signed on Major General TPS Waraich and Karanbir Singh Pannu, respectively, for 2,40,000 points each. Bani Bajwa ended up being the most expensive female golfer at 1,50,000 and will be part of the Sultans of Swing.

All teams needed to add eight players to the squads. In total, 168 players were successfuly signed on. The evening auction was conducted by Brandon De Souza, tournament director, in the presence of the tournament committee led by Chairperson Simrat Jawanda, Dr G S Kochar, Shiveer Singh, Gaurav Rai and Partap Hoon.
