Zirakpur, August 3

Nearly two dozen housing societies and commercial structures in Zirakpur have come under the scanner for illegal construction and encroachments after a group of residents submitted the related documents to the district administration recently.

Zirakpur tehsildar Punit Bansal has sought details of ownership and khasra number of 23 constructions under the administration’s scanner from the Municipal Council Executive Officer (EO).

“We have reverted the file to the Zirakpur EO to give ownership details and other documents so as to ascertain the complete facts of the case,” said Bansal.

Earlier, Mohali ADC (General) Komal Mittal had sought a report from the Zirakpur Municipal Council officials in this regard.

Sukhdev Chaudhary, president, JAC Resident Welfare Association, and other members had met Mittal and handed over the documents of about 20 colonies to the ADC.

Chaudhary said illegal constructions had resulted in a loss of crores of rupees to the exchequer.
