Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia granted sanad of five marla plot to each of the 34 landless beneficiaries of Sarsini village and 11 beneficiaries of other villages.

Under the state government’s slum development scheme – Basera – five marla land will be granted to landless and homeless to build their houses.

Kalia said the main beneficiary under the scheme were poor people who don’t have any type of land or house in their name or any family member’s name.

The Deputy Commissioner said the gram panchyat officials were given the responsibility to identify the correct beneficiary under the scheme.

Earlier, 237 slum dwellers in Lalru got the proprietary rights under the slum development scheme.

A survey is underway in various parts of the city to identify more eligible families.
