24 to be honoured on Republic Day

For rendering outstanding services in a particular field, 24 individuals and associations will be honoured with commendation certificates on Republic Day 2021.

Harbir Singh Anand, ex-District Education Officer, Directorate of School Education, UT, will be awarded posthumously.

Anand, who worked for more than 32 years in the education department, was a well-known figure in the Department as well as around the city. He was also known for his contribution during the Covid pandemic for providing essential services to the poor, destitute and people living on streets from the very next day of complete lockdown i.e. March 25, 2020.

Anand continued his diligent services till his last breath and lost his life while battling with Covid-19 on September 5, 2020 as a dedicated teacher, administrator and a true warrior.
