24-year-old arrested for assaulting minor niece
A 24-year-old man has been arrested from Bihar for allegedly sexually assaulting his 14-year-old niece.
The accused, who has been identified as Ajay, a resident of Vaishali, Bihar, was taken into custody and has been remanded to a three-day police custody for further investigation.
The minor’s mother had earlier filed a complaint alleging that her daughter was taken away by the accused in April 2024.
The girl returned home two months later and alleged that she had been taken to Jaipur and other locations, where the accused allegedly assaulted her.
A medical examination confirmed the assault, following which a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police investigation revealed that the accused is the girl’s maternal uncle.
With the assistance of the Cyber Cell in Panchkula, the accused was tracked down to Bihar. He was produced before a court and remanded to police custody for three days. Further investigation into the case is underway.
