24-year-old girl hangs herself in Zirakpur
Zirakpur, June 22
A 24-year-old girl was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her bedroom at Swastik Vihar Society on Patiala Road today. The deceased has been identified as Poonam, a native of Himachal Pradesh, who was staying in a rented house in the colony.
Zirakpur SHO Onkar Singh Brar said information was received that the body of the deceased was hanging from a fan. She was working at a parlour, but did not leave the house yesterday, after which neighbours called up the police.
Her body was found hanging from a fan in the bedroom when the police broke open the door. The body of the deceased has been kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, for a postmortem. The police have informed the family of the victim. The police said preliminary investigation revealed that it was a case of suicide. — TNS
