250 pre-fab shelters razed in Sector 56

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) carried out a demolition drive for pre-fab shelters in Sector 56 here today. Yashpal Garg, Chief Executive Officer, CHB, said nearly 250 vacant shelters were demolished during the drive. “Land is being cleared and the Engineering Department has started fencing around it with barbed wires,” he said. “The remaining 70 pre-fab shelters will be demolished after Diwali,” he said.

A camp was organised to receive applications for the allotment of flats in Maloya-I. Allotment to the eligible applicants would be made through a computerised draws and the first draw for 352 flats would be held tomorrow, he said.
