The UT Education Department will honour 29 educators to mark the Teachers’ Day celebration tomorrow.

Dr Ramesh Chand Sharma of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 18, and Jyotsana of GMSSS-20 will be honoured with Special Recognition Award.

Other awardees are Sukhpal Kaur, Principal of GMSSS-21, (state award), Sangeeta Gulati, Principal of GMSSS-19 (commendation), Dharmender, Prachi Mann, Kamaljit Kaur, Sukhvir Kaur, Parminder Singh, Seemal Kumari, Anuradha, Surinder Kaur, Rajwant Kaur, Dinesh, Anupam Lekhi, Meenakshi Hindal, G Nithya, Rashi Srivastava Isa Anad and Pardeep Singh (all state awards). Besides, Ritu Nangia, Seema Sharma, Rupinder Kaur, Sewa Singh, Surbhi, Neeraj, Deepali Garg and Harpreet Malvai will be honoured with commendation and Deerja Sharma of GMSSS-40 with the lifetime contribution award.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
