3 held with 10 stolen bikes, five mobiles

The police arrested a three-member gang of snatchers and recovered 10 stolen bikes and five mobile phones from them in Dera Bassi today.

On October 11, Aditya Kumar, a native of Manakpur, UP, and currently residing in Pandwala, reported that his bike was stolen near a liquor vend in daytime. At a naka near Focal Point, Mubarikpur, the police nabbed Jasveer Singh, alias Tinku, a resident of Daadpura, Dera Bassi, with a bike bearing a fake registration number. His questioning led to the arrest of Gaurav Kumar, a Dadpura resident; and Shubham Pandey, a resident of Mahiwala. The three accused had formed a gang. They stole bikes and snatched mobile phones.

Two more stolen bikes were recovered at a naka near the ESIC hospital, Mubarikpur. The disclosures made by Gaurav and Shubham led to the discovery of seven more stolen bikes.

Dera Bassi DSP Bikramjeet Singh Brar said, “The suspects were trying to forge registration documents of the vehicles, but failed. The suspects have been remanded in police custody. Further investigation in the case is going on.”
