Chandigarh, June 15

By paying only Rs52 online, a woman resident of Sector 41-A won a prize for Rs1,000 in a draw conducted by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) here today.

The CHB had recently introduced the facility of online payment for dues so that the allottees are not required to visit the office.

To further encourage online payments, the CHB had decided in March to hold a computerised draw every month to give a reward of Rs1,000 each to 10 online payment transactions, irrespective of the amount paid. The computerised draw was to be held in April. However, due to the lockdown, the draws for March, April and May could not be conducted.

Now, a computerised draw to decide 10 winners for each of these three months was held today under the supervision of Subeena Bansal, member of the board. A total of 30 winners were chosen.

Among the winners, the lowest deposited online payment was of Rs52 and the highest deposited amount was Rs1, 54,588.

A total of 16 persons, more than half of the winners, had deposited less than the prize money of Rs 1,000 and the maximum winners — 12 — were from Maloya.

The 30 winners include 14 allottees of small flats, 11 of residential property and five of commercial property.

The prize money will be credited in the bank accounts of the winners in the next few days.

The next draw for June will be held in July.
