300 opt out of Shramik train

As many as 1,300 passengers boarded a Shramik train that departed at 2 pm today for Mau, Uttar Pradesh. This is the fourth consecutive train from the city that chugged off with lesser occupancy as 300 registered migrants opted out of the journey.
Yashpal Garg, Secretary, Social Welfare, UT Administration, said: “After opening industrial and commercial units, a considerable number of migrant labours is not interested to move out.”

June 3: Shramik train to Mau (UP) had 300 vacant seats
Yesterday, he added, about 10,000 persons were contacted through telephone calls and SMSs for the train to Mau. “Though capacity of the train was 1,600, only 1,300 passengers turned up,” he said.
For the movement of persons stranded in Chandigarh during the lockdown, the UT Administration had set up two centres at Chandigarh College of Engineering Technology (CCET) in Sector 26 for their medical screening.
The stranded persons were allowed to register for movement either through helpline or website of the Chandigarh Administration.
Train to Gorakhpur on Friday
On Friday, a Shramik train has been scheduled at 2 pm for Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh with stoppage at Nazibabad, Sitapour, Shravasti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Devaria, Maharajganj and Gonda.
